Public Input Sought On Resilient Northeastern NJ’s Draft Plan (October 1, 2022)

The DRAFT Action Plan is the product of almost two years of collaboration, engagement, and technical analyses. It provides recommendations for projects, policies, and programs to address climate-related hazards like coastal flooding, stormwater flooding, heat, and poor air quality. The Action Plan organizes these recommendations into a roadmap to increase climate resilience in Northeastern NJ.

Recommendations include, but are not limited to:

  • Adding green infrastructure and restored urban and coastal environments  to support wildlife, improve water quality and offer educational opportunities
  • Integrating resilience into parks, walkways, contaminated sites and vacant spaces to create new green space and recreational amenities while addressing concerns like toxin exposure and urban heat (for example, increasing tree canopy)

The proposal can be viewed here. Feedback can be submitted through October 23, 2022 via a form, email at ResilientNENJ@dep.nj.gov, voice message at 201-275-0861 and social media (@resilientNENJ on Facebook and Twitter and @resilient_nenj on Instagram).
