Wednesday, April 21, at 10 a.m.: Acting Commissioner LaTourette will join a Raising Ambitions series panel on the role of offshore wind in achieving net-zero carbon emissions sponsored by the Atlantic Council, a nonpartisan global issues leadership program. Surrounding President Biden’s Earth Week climate summit, the online series features discussions by world environmental leaders designed to increase ambitions to meet climate goals. Thursday, April 22, 11 a.m.: Acting Commissioner LaTourette will join Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez, Executive Director of the Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy Jane Cohen, and other officials to release the Statewide Climate Resilience Strategy. Friday, April 23, 2 p.m.: Acting Commissioner LaTourette is scheduled to participate in a press event hosted by Deputy Commissioner for Environmental Justice and Equity Olivia Glenn to raise the new state flag for Mississippi along Freedom Way at Liberty State Park, to highlight the importance of open spaces and inclusion in the environmental justice movement. The event will be held along Freedom Way in front of Parking Lot 7, near the large playground. Parking is available in Lot 7. Please note that Freedom Way must be accessed via Morris Pesin Drive. Access from Audrey Zapp Drive will be closed for the event.
The Woodbridge and Liberty State Park events are news conferences with media availability and will be livestreamed. The New Jersey DEP will also be commemorating Earth Week with information about climate change and climate resilience on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
