The Forked River Mountain Coalition is a grass-roots organization working to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the natural, cultural, historical, recreational and other resources of the Forked River Mountains. The Forked River Mountain Coalition is a charitable, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The Forked River Mountains are the centerpiece of a vast wilderness located in the Pine Barrens of Ocean County, New Jersey that contain over 20,000 acres of pristine forests and streams. The area is rich in culture and history and is home to a variety of wildlife including many rare, threatened and endangered plants and animals.
The purposes of the Forked River Mountain Coalition are:

to preserve, maintain, protect and restore the natural, cultural, historical, recreational and other resources of the Forked River Mountains

to promote the means and opportunities to educate the public about the natural, cultural, historical, recreational and other resources of the Forked River Mountains

to conduct and support research of the natural, cultural, historical, recreational and other resources of the Forked River Mountains

to acquire and support the acquisition of areas of particular importance to the Forked River Mountains

to do all things suitable and appropriate to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the natural, cultural, historical, recreational and other resources of the Forked River Mountains and other areas deemed worthy of protection
