NJDEP Announces Approval of $81 Million for Green Acres Project

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has announced approval of the funding of nearly $81 million by the Garden State Preservation Trust. The funds are recommended for the enhancement of Green Acres projects, which help improve parks, conserve and protect open space, and enhance the land for general public enjoyment. $37.4 million has been approved for municipal and county land acquisitions projects, over $33 million for the development of parks and recreation facilities, $5.8 million for acquiring nonprofit organization projects, almost $2.5 million for recreational development by nonprofits, almost $1.4 for local stewardship projects and $748,000 for nonprofit stewardship projects.
