New Jersey Prescribed Burning Program Underway

The New Jersey State Forest Fire Service will be conducting seasonal controlled burns throughout some of New Jersey's wooded area through till the end of March. The fires will help prevent more intense, uncontrolled, fires from happening in the future by slowly burning away the underbrush that develops on NJ's forest floors. Residents are advised that they may see plumes of smoke eminating from wooded areas which are the expecte byproduct of these safe burns, but they should still contact authorities if they see something concerning as part of a better safe than sorry approach to forest fires.
