about njedl - access
Accessing the Collection:Digital Items:The Digital Library will provide, whenever possible, full-text access to environmental reports, data, and multimedia. When appropriate, we will provide links and pointers to items residing on other servers. The NJEDL currently uses a number of different file formats for digital files. Sometimes, these file formats may require the user to download a browser plug-in to view the file. For more information on these formats, and to download appropriate plug-ins, please follow these links:
NJEDL searchers will currently find metadata (descriptive records) for which there is no digital item link. The Scholarly Communication Center (SCC) holds hard copies of most of these materials. For most materials, it is possible to request that we scan the item:
NJEDL will almost never provide full text of these items. Our records include standard library call numbers for theses in the Rutgers University Libraries collections, as well as the specific branch library where the materials are found. These records are included as an experiment, and over time will become a complete inventory of graduate and undergraduate theses / and PhD dissertation holdings. However, at this time, the inventory is incomplete. Users may search IRIS (the Rutgers University Libraries' online catalog) for Rutgers theses and dissertations. You must contact the appropriate library directly to view these materials. Availability is according to normal library access policy. For more information on contacting the Rutgers University Libraries, please see list of contact information. Other Materials (non-digital): Sometimes, select materials may not be available for addition to the library’s digital collection. However, these materials may still be considered relevant to the mission of the NJEDL. In these cases, citation records will be available, but no option will be given to request the item. If you would still like to see the material, or would like to know why a specific document is not being made available, please contact us for more information. Contact addresses for RU Libraries: The web site for all Rutgers University Libraries is at http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu. |
